Crossroads Middle School South

South Brunswick, New Jersey

South Brunswick is a diverse rural community with 1045 students in attendance. The school's vision statement is to "prepare students to be lifelong learners, critical thinkers, effective communicators, and wise decisions makers." The numbers behind diversity are: 52.3% Asian, 30.2% White/Caucasian, 7.9% Black/African American, 7.7% Hispanic/:Latino, 1.7% Two Races, and 0.1% Pacific Islander. Many of the families place high academic expectations on their children, and students strive to make good grades because of this. The school is very unit driven, with at least three units per grade and names are based on Greek and Latin numbers or Gods. Units share the same teachers for the five subjects, which allows for great opportunities for collaboration and unit driven activities. Crossroads is also very focused on encouraging anti-bullying and harassment behavior, with multiple reminders throughout the school day and special activities periodically.
